THE NEWSLETTER PROJECT

Designed and produced a 4-page 8.5" x 11" newsletter which communicates important information
on the topic of newsletter design. Based on a multiple-column grid using InDesign software.

RESTAURANT BUSINESS SYSTEM

Business System created InDesign.

Includes:
8.5 x 11 Letter Head,  9.5 x 4.125 Envelope,  2 x 3.5 Business Card,  4.5 x 3.5 Mailing Label
All pieces include restaurant logo and in 2 pantone colors.

RESTAURANT BROCHURE & LOGO

Created 8.5 x 11 brochure for an upscale neighborhood restaurant and bar (fictitious) featuring euro-style tempting desserts and signature house cocktails!

Kept it simple and understated but made sure it had punch to grab attention. My final attempt was to make it not so busy.  And made impact by the color bars behind the type on the cover and the logo to help reinforce the grid.

NEIGHBORHOOD LOGO DESIGN

Used Adobe Illustrator to render an illustrative logo designed to represent the major features of a Portland neighborhood.
My neighborhood happened to be a charming marine community located along the shore of North Portland east of I5 and across from Hayden and Tomahawk Islands, called 'Bridgeton'.

For imagery I used the surrounding terrain such as the boats, sailboats floating in the marina.

2-PAGE CELEBRITY SPREAD

Designed a two-page, full color (CMYK), 17" x 11" spread featuring a well-known celebrity.

I chose Janis Joplin.  Typography played a major role in the design. I integrated the headline, subhead, image and body copy into a cohesive, visually interesting design I felt conveyed the message visually.

DVD COVER

Created DVD Cover for the film:  Portland: Quest for the Livable City.
The focus of the Making Sense of Place film series is growth and change in large metropolitan areas, through the eyes and voices or residents.

Design includes a typographic title design and photographic images courtesy Steckly Studios.
3 Pantone (PMS).

Purpose To communicate the mood using images an color combinations. I chose images that best reflect my interpretation of the film.

CULTURAL CANDY BAR

Created German candy bar using InDesign software. Packaging includes Color Palette, and Style, typography, flavor, overall mood complete with image that would represent the culture accurately.

Purpose: To practice color theory and application while exploring the style, symbolism and color palette of a particular culture. To create a package for a 3-dimensional object. To target a specific market through packaging design.
